Well House Farm Studio
The client’s brief for the design of the new studio building was to compliment the existing house and outbuildings on the site, but also to be contemporary in feel and provide a multi functional space. We designed a modern take on black timber clad vernacular agricultural buildings and used black painted metal trims and flashings as a border to accentuate the timber. Hand made natural clay roof tiles are framed with black painted metal copings which give the building a sharp contemporary aesthetic. The building enjoys views out over the gardens and the swimming pool and is used throughout the year as an entertaining space. The large glass sliding screens can be opened up to provide a seamless connection to the garden whilst smaller punched openings have been located to frame particular views.
