Kennington School
We were commissioned to design a concept for a new secondary school in Kennington for young people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The school was proposed as facility for children living nearby who were having to travel daily, sometimes long distances to specialist schools outside the borough. The concept was designed with legible and generous circulation routes with intimate niche sanctuary spaces along the route. Classrooms are all designed to be naturally ventilated, each with its own external space accessed via a glazed screen. The landscaping includes play and amenity areas and raised planters for a kitchen garden that will be tended by the children.
